Child – ‘Child’ (2014)

02/21/2014

Lookout For The Fuzz…Down Under. Let us not confuse Child with the other bands of the same name or conversions of the word “child” and “band” because there are many. And they scatter from Seattle to the UK. This “Child” band is from Melbourne, Australia and formed in 2012 with Mathais Northway(guitar/vocals), Jayden Ensor(bass), and Read More

Weedeater at Soda Bar 1.20.14

01/30/2014

Weedeater played Soda Bar last Monday and f**d our ear drums ruthless. My ears rang the entire ride home and carried through to the morning. Dopelord – Magick Rites

01/22/2014

Dopelord brings weighted bluesy doom in its best form. From across the pond, Poland is making a lot of noise. The northern areas of Europe are known for some of the darkest and heaviest metal to hit the underground Read More

When Great Musicians Come Together. In the run for 2013 Doom Metal Album of the Year, Windhand’s Soma delivers a fully appreciated sound and track list. It seems more common for bands to lay out 2-3 solid gems while leaving space on the album to test a few lighter joys or obnoxious rant-a-bouts in hopes Read More

Tides – Resurface

09/18/2013

Sometimes It’s Better Without Words My enthusiasm for instrumental rock bands is the result from a love or hate relationship with any band’s front man. I’m a fan of rock vocals, but upon hearing a new band I often tense up after be hypnotized by a great intro riff and waiting anxiously for the vocals Read More

Alunah — White Hoarhound

06/19/2013

Rated by Terrorizer Magazine as the “future of doom,” Alunah brings a stimulating sound to doom metal’s promising future. Based out of Birmingham, UK and led by a female vocalist who can lash cosmic ringers to wrap heavy guitars and rushing drums for a solid psychedelic ambiance, there’s no coal shortage for the long winters Read More
